Special guest and an American Christian musician, John Tibbs will open for the Casting Crowns.  Tibbs showcases his signature southern heartland roots rock sound, with biblically-based autobiographical lyricism. He has released three independently-made extended plays, Origins in 2010, Swallowing Death, Breathing Life in 2012, and Anchor in 2013.

His first major-label release, Dead Man Walking, was released by Fair Trade Services, in late October 2015. Formerly known as La Onda Vaselina, 1990s Latin pop group OV7 have a career span of more than 25 years with several hits in the Latin American charts. They remain one of the most successful pop bands in the Latin pop industry.

OV7 followed a trend that began in the 1980s by another pop group named Timbiriche. In 1989, a Mexican singer and producer decided to make a different version of the musical Grease, English word for Vaselina, thus the group was formed based on the play. The band La Onda Vaselina was created.
They sold over 100,000 copies of their self-titled first album with big hit singles “Que Buen Reventon” and “Triste Es El Primer Adios.” Their second album Onda Vaselina 2 was one of the most successful albums of the 90s in Mexico with popular hits “El Calendario” and “Voy Voy Voy.” Other successful albums include Dulces Para Ti and La Banda Rock.

OV7 took a long break and then reunited with a more mature sound during their adolescence. They came out with album Hoy that was targeted for the teen market which featured alternative rock songs mixed with pop and strong texts. The album flopped and the group decided to take a long pause in which they also considered a split.

In 1998 Onda Vaselina made a huge comeback with a strong album that made history in the Mexican charts "Entrega Total." The album sent the group back to the # 1 spot not only in Mexico but the rest of Latin America. Hits for this album include “Mirame A Los Ojos” and “Un Pie Tras Otro Pie.” Their major hit was “Te Quiero Tanto Tanto” which reached number one on the Billboard Latin chart and is still played at clubs and weddings throughout Latin America.

After eight years, Onda Vaselina came together once again but under new name OV7 due to legal reasons and released their first single “Enloquéceme” and their album CD00 which was one of the greatest albums in Mexican history. They filled the Auditorio Nacional in Mexico City 10 times. The album sold 2 million copies in Mexico and included the only English-speaking song “Angelica.”

In November 2002 the Group announced their split on the live television show Operacion Triunfo. OV7 had a farewell tour and officially split up on June 14, 2003.

They reunited in 2010, and as of 2016, the remaining members are Mariana Ochoa, Ari Borovoy, Érika Zaba, Lidia Avila, Oscar Schwebel, and M'Balia Marichal.


Kabah was formed in 1992 in Mexico City by Federica Quijano and her brother Andres. Their cousin Sergio O’Farrill and friend Maria Jose joined the group later. During the 1990s, many pop groups in Mexico consisted of four members, so the siblings decided to add their longtime friends René and Daniela to bring the group to six members.

The group created a two song demo tape with songs “Encontré El Amor” (I Found Love) and “Somos Tan Differentes” (We are so different). Eager to show off their talent, they performed their two songs at a popular club but were not well received by the audience and were eventually booed off the stage.

There second opportunity to perform these two songs were for a kindergarten class where Federica worked as a teacher’s assistant. They recreated their songs to a more child friendly feel that both songs were a hit amongst the younger audience, thus marking the beginning of their careers.

Despite their hopes, however, they were initially turned down by several producers. Music producer of Televisa Luis de Llano suggested to the group that they compete in a singing talent show. After signing a contract for one album with Polygram Music, the group created their first self-titled album. They then competed and won the talent show with their first song “Encontré El Amor” which was a success among the younger population.

Their first album was such a success that Polygram Music signed them for another contract to create two more albums. Their second album, La Calle De Las Sirenas, opened many doors for Kabah and carried them to international fame. Their third album, Esperanto, sold 100,000 copies in its first week. It featured the singles “Mai, Mai,” “Una Ilusión,” and “Esperanto.” Their fourth album, XNE, was more of a conceptualized image with a darker sound. It also contained the theme song for the Mexican soap opera Amigas y Rivales.

In 2002, they returned to a lighter sound with album La Vida Que Va, which was recorded in Norway under the Warner Music label. La Vuelta al Mundo was released in 2003, and the band's final album, El Pop, was released in 2005 which featured acoustic versions of a few of their greatest-hits. They disbanded in 2005 but are now reunited and on tour with OV7.

Formed in 2012 by Art Alexakis, lead guitarist and vocalist of Everclear, the Summerland Tour has featured notable nostalgic alternative rock bands such as Soul Asylum, Eve 6, Space Hog, Gin Blossoms, Marcy Playground, Live, Fuel, American HiFi, The Toadies and Filter. Sugar Ray was groundbreaking from the get-go, including among their ranks a real live DJ – incredibly, unheard of in a rock band at that time. Kicking off with 1995’s “LEMONADE AND BROWNIES,” the Newport Beach quintet unleashed a series of albums that Mark McGrath describes as “love letters to the music we loved, with no irony just pure enthusiasm.” 1997’s “FLOORED” saw the band refine its multi-faceted sound with the assistance of GRAMMY® Award-winning producer David Kahane (Sublime, Paul McCartney, The Strokes). The album proved Sugar Ray’s popular breakthrough, earning 2x platinum certification from the RIAA, fueled in part by the #1 hit single, “Fly.”


For over two decades, Everclear's sound has reflected the rock, post-punk, and singer/songwriter influences of Art Alexakis, including acts like X, the Replacements, the Pixies, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, and Elvis Costello. The band found success with their first three albums on Capitol Records, Sparkle and Fade, So Much for the Afterglow, and Songs from an American Movie Vol. One: Learning How to Smile, which were all certified platinum.

Last year, Everclear released their ninth studio album titled Black Is The New Black via The End Records/ADA. Across the album, the insistent kick of drummer Sean Winchester, athletic groove of bassist Freddy Herrera, and ridiculously skilled guitar shred of Davey French join forces behind the storm of giant guitar riffs swinging mightily from song to song. A bit of tasteful keyboards from Josh Crawley add atmospheric punch to songs that could crush a tiny dive bar or destroy the cheap seats in the world’s biggest arena with equal force.

A major player throughout the post-grunge boom of the late '90s, Lit featured the combined talents of frontman A. Jay Popoff, his guitar-playing brother Jeremy, bassist Kevin Baldes, and drummer Allen Shellenberger. The group formed in 1990 in Orange County, California, where it initially performed metal-influenced music under the name Razzle. After changing their name, Lit began embracing a spunky brand of punk-pop that helped attract a local following in California. The group sold out local venues (including Club 369 in Fullerton) and issued two recordings: an EP, Five Smokin' Tracks from Lit; and the full-length Tripping the Light Fantastic, which arrived during the spring of 1997 and became a college radio hit.

Sponge has proven to be one of the Motor City's heaviest hitters after gaining international notoriety with their debut album "Rotting Piñata” (Sony). Emerging from Detroit with hits like "Plowed" and "Molly (16 Candles)" Sponge received massive airplay on radio stations from coast to coast and were in heavy rotation on MTV. Having shared stages the world over with Guns N’ Roses, Nickelback, Iggy Pop, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Kiss, to name just a few, Sponge continues to be one of rock’s most sought after live acts.

LAREDO, TX (May 18, 2016) —For 10 years now The South Texas Food Bank’s Empty Bowls has aimed to both create awareness about the realities of hunger and to celebrate the generosity of those individuals, businesses and organizations that have impacted and furthered the food bank’s mission of feeding the hungry in South Texas.
This year’s will take place at the Laredo Energy Arena on Friday, August 19. The event honors the South Texas Outreach Foundation for its contribution to the South Texas Food Bank mission of feeding the hungry and will feature a concert by renowned 1970s and 80s rock band, Grand Funk Railroad.
The announcement was made on May 18 at the LEA by the South Texas Food Bank Board President  Erasmo Villarreal and Empty Bowls Committee Chairs Leslie Benavides and Kevin Romo.
Food bank board members, STFB Executive Director Alma Boubel and food bank staff members were among the media and community partners that attended the event.
“Empty Bowls is a celebration of generosity,” said South Texas Food Bank Board President Erasmo Villarreal. “Since 2009—Empty Bowls III– we have recognized an individual,  business or organization that has either been a longstanding community partner, like H.E.B. for example, or who have been outstanding supporters of the food bank’s mission like the South Texas Outreach Foundation, whose valuable contributions have boosted our operations and programs.”
STFB Empty Bowls Co-Chair Leslie Benavides noted, “This year marks our 10th Annual Empty Bowls, our largest fundraiser event of the year. Our non-profit organization depends highly on this event to continue providing for our community. Without the continued support of the people and generous patrons in our service area, like The South Texas Outreach Foundation, our mission would not be possible. “
Sponsorship tables of 10 that include dinner and access to silent auction items are available. There are different levels of sponsorship available: Diamond $20,000, Platinum $10,000, Gold $5,000, Silver $2,500 and Bronze $1,500. Individual table tickets are $150. The South Texas Food Bank (STFB) has been in operation since 1989. It is a member of Feeding Texas and the national organization Feeding America. It serves an eight-county area from Del Rio (Val Verde County) to Rio Grande City (Starr County), helping an average of 28,000 families per month.

Without a doubt, Grand Funk Railroad is one of the greatest American rock n’ roll bands of all times. Since they got together in 1969, the band members have had numerous hit albums and singles.
The name Grand Funk Railroad is a play on words of the Grand Trunk Western Railroad, a railroad line that ran through the band's home town of Flint, Michigan. Since their music had a funky quality to it, the word “Trunk” was changed to Funk and the legendary name was born.

Grand Funk Railroad hit the festival circuit starting with a successful performance at the 1969 Atlanta Pop Festival. They soon landed a contract with Capitol Records, which included the hit “Time Machine”.
The group's commitment to touring produced a series of big-selling albums over the next few years -- five of their eight releases from 1969 to 1972 went platinum, and all the others went gold.

In 1973 the band scored a No. 1 hit with the title track of the Todd Rundgren-produced "We're an American Band”, which went to No. 1 and their first Gold Record for a single.  Their next album, "Shinin' On," contained another No. 1 hit in a remake of Little Eva's "The Loco-Motion." “Some Kind of Wonderful” reached the No.3 position in the Top 40 chart and stayed there for 12 weeks. “Heartbreaker”, “I’m Your Captain/Closer to Home”, and “Bad Time” are among the many other fan favorite songs.

In 2000, Brewer and Schacher recruited lead vocalist Max Carl of .38 Special and former Kiss guitarist Bruce Kulick along with keyboard player Tim Cashion.
More than 40 years later, you can still hear the music of the Grand Funk Railroad in classic rock stations around the world and utilized in movies and TV commercials. Their achievement has grown to 13 gold and 10 platinum records that have sold 25 million copies worldwide.

Julión Álvarez is a Mexican singer and songwriter. After his departure from the Mexican band Banda MS, he formed his own band, Julión Álvarez y Su Norteño Banda. Today, he is one of the most renowned interpreters of regional Mexican music.

In 2014, he was selected by producer Miguel Angel Fox of Mexican talent show La Voz to participate as a coach in the show’s fourth edition. He was the winning coach of his pupil Guido Rochin. In September 2015, Álvarez' album El Aferrado was nominated at the 16th Annual Latin Grammy Awards for Best Banda Album. His song, El Amor De Su Vida was nominated for Best Regional Song.

Álvarez was born on April 11, 1983 and raised in the Benito Juarez municipality of Concordia Chiapas. During his childhood and adolescence he competed in several singing contests, earning the first prize place. At age 18, he enrolled in the fourth semester of Industrial Engineering. He felt this was not his passion so he moved to Mazatlan Sinaloa where he worked in restaurants.

In 2003 he joined the Mexican band Banda MS until 2006. Following the parting from the band, he formed a band called Julión Álvarez y Su Norteño Banda. At the 26th and 27th Premio Lo Nuestro, Álvarez was nominated for Regional Mexican Male Artist of the Year.

In March 2015, Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto declared Álvarez a great example for Mexican youth. Later that year, Álvarez' album El Aferado was nominated at the 16th Annual Latin Grammy Awards for Best Banda Album. His song, "El Amor De Su Vida" was nominated for Best Regional Song. In April 2016, Álvarez received significant criticism when he said in an interview that a woman who does not know how to mop is of no use to him.

FRIDAY, MAY 27, 2016, Los Angeles - Juan Gabriel, whose career and creativity continues to soar four decades after his start, has announced that his all-new production MéXXIco Es Todo 2016 Tour will kick off Friday, August 19, in San Diego at the Valley View Casino Center.  The tour continues to 22 cities at some of the nation’s largest and most prestigious venues including The Forum in Los Angeles, the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Allstate Arena in Chicago, American Airlines Arena in Miami, and Barclays Center in New York.  For the first time ever, Juan Gabriel will perform in Utah and North Carolina.  Tickets go on sale Friday, June 3rd at 10:00am (and with special pre-code on Thursday June 2 at 10:00am) and are available at Ticketmaster unless noted otherwise on the full itinerary below.

Juan Gabriel continues to create more elaborate and exciting productions with each new tour, and with “MéXXIco Es Todo Tour 2016” it will take a cast and crew of more than 100 people to bring his vision to the stage.  The show includes 50 mariachi and orchestra players, ten singers and 20 dancers, all of which along with the production, will take l0 trucks and busses to transport.  In select cities where the venue facilities are appropriate, El Divo de Juarez, as his fans have affectionately nicknamed him, will perform in a 360 degree set up for the first time in the United States. In other cities, his set up will allow him to get closer than ever to his audience.

Juan Gabriel is one of the Latin industry’s most successful artists since his started in the 1970s. Exuberant in his performance style and prolific in his songwriting, Gabriel has penned songs in diverse styles -- rancheras, mariachis, ballads, pop and rock -- for himself as well as other Latin legends.
