Jon Wolfe

Influenced by the American heartland, Wolfe pursued his career in the music industry establishing himself as a respectable country artist alongside others like George Strait and Alan Jackson. He’s also shared the stage with other famous country artists like Dwight Yoakam, Merle Haggard, and Asleep at the Wheel.

Born and raised in Miami, Okla., Wolfe began his musical experience at a young age by singing at his church. Although his initial interest was in classical pop, like Frank Sinatra, Wolfe was later introduced to country music by his step-father, who played at local venues with his band. Surrounded by this type of music eventually led him to become inspired by well-known artist and fellow Oklahoman, Garth Brooks.

Once Wolfe considered to make music his career, he decided to make his way into Texas, where played at local Houston venues on a regular basis, slowly but surely gaining more experience as a performer. The route he wanted to take with his music consisted of traditional sounds with hints of upbeat tunes to get the crowds on their feet dancing. Despite his decision to go this route, his music still has roots to classic honky tonk styles.

He released his first album “Almost Gone” in 2005.  In 2010, Wolfe self-released another album “It All Happened in a Honky Tonk”, which was very successful in the Southwest.  Five singles on this album made it to the top 10 on the Texas Music Chart.  In 2013, Warner Bros. re-released a deluxe version of “It All Happened in a Honky Tonk”, which sold 25,000 copies and reached number 52 on the Billboard Top Country Albums.

Wolfe released his most recent album “Natural Man” in 2015, adding to his collection of traditional, energetic music. This album reached number 25 on the Billboard Top Country albums and sold an estimated 2,200 copies the first week it was released.  Wolfe continues to perform and takes his unique style of energetic country on stage with him, giving personality to every one of his shows.
Other Country Musical Guests

Upcoming artist, Aaron Copeland, will also join the festival. Copeland grew up in the small Texas town of Corsicana where he learned to play guitar and piano at a young age and quickly began winning competitions.  As a teenager, he played honky tonk with his dad and brothers.

At the age of 20, he secured a position with top draw Casey Donahew Band (CDB) playing keys, guitar, singing harmony vocals and eventually co-writing songs for the band with band front man Casey Donahew. Copeland remained with CDB for over 6 years where he learned the ins and outs of the touring world.
Copeland then joined Sam Riggs and the Night People where he continued to fine tune his skills and build a growing fan base.
Although he enjoyed every minute with his previous bands, Aaron felt the time was right to branch out on his own. Now based out of Fort Worth, TX, Aaron has finished the process of recording his debut EP and it is now available.
Other performances include local group The Red Stone Country Band, which is formed by four eclectic friends with an immense passion for a broad perspective towards music. This band shares an infinite blend to the sounds of Country and the 50's genre of musical artistry.

Their musical expression will undoubtedly take anyone to a vivid journey through the decade’s time you wished you lived.

P.O.D., which stands for Payable on Death, first formed in 1992. The band, whose roots began in San Diego, CA, has been successfully topping charts since and has managed to achieve 10 million sales worldwide.  Throughout their career, they released eight albums. These albums include triple-platinum album Satellite.  The albums also include popular songs “Southtown”, “Youth of the Nation”, “Alive”, and popular radio hit “Beautiful”.  On top of their success selling albums, their website also states that they received three Grammy Award nominations for their number one single “Lost in Forever”.

P.O.D. have also managed to create not one, but four number one music videos throughout their career.  Aside from this, they have also helped contribute many of their songs to major motion picture soundtracks for movies such as “Little Nicky”, “Lara Croft – Tomb Raider”, “A Man Apart”, “Any Given Sunday”, “Blue Crush”, and “Biker Boyz”.  Band members include Sonny Sandoval, the vocalist, Marcos Curiel, the guitarist, Traa Daniels, whom plays bass, and Wuv Bernardo, the drummer.

As Lions

When As Lions came together in 2015, singer Austin Dickinson recalls their mission statement, which is “to create the biggest, baddest hard work we could, and on an almost cinematic scale,” according to their website.

Hardly the most modest of goals, but one the London-based five-piece go a long way toward realizing on their debut EP, Aftermath. The effort's four dynamic tracks are a study in contrasts, mixing thick, grinding riffs and rhythms with majestically sweeping strings, stately piano tinklings and a hefty dose of atmospheric electronics, all of it shot through with Dickinson’s soaring vocals and introspective lyrics.  Band members include Austin Dickinson (Vocals), Conor O'Keefe (Guitar) Will Homer (Guitar), Stefan Whiting (Bass) and Dave Fee (Drums).

Darke Complex

Darke Complex, formerly known as Widow, isn’t your average alternative metal band. Using a mix of alternative rock and deep metal, Darke Complex surpasses the typical genre of metal, gaining them a respectful spot in the nu-metal and metalcore genre.  Formed in Houston, Texas they signed with Spinefarm Records to release their first EP titled Widow in 2015. The following year, after officially earning a following, they released their full-length debut album Point Oblivion. Inspired by pioneer bands like Slipknot and Linkin Park, the group is talented in creating skillful compositions and contagious melodies. Band members include Vincente Void, Okage, Moth Tracy, Lynden Rook.

Refugee is a culmination of ideas for a new sound that breaks the mold of today’s modern Christian Metal/Rock. Refugee's sound is a rich hybrid style of modern rock blended with a refined metal. Down-tuned riffing and scorching guitar solos, topped with strong yet smooth female vocals by Noani. Damian Refuge also brings the occasional tasteful scream/ throaty grunts with his aggressive male vocals. Both vocalists stand strong alone, yet come together in great harmony and build up huge choruses that you won't forget. Refugee's spiritual lyrical content delves into the heart of man to ultimately reveal the heart of God. These collective elements make Refugee a truly original band. Band members include Damian Refuge (Vocals/Guitar), Evan Warren (Lead Guitar), Gaston Flores (Drums), Noani (Vocals), and Bruce Gonzales (Bass).

It’s been two decades, seven albums and thousands of emotions since five friends from San Sebastian, Spain took time from their college studies to create their first songs in a rehearsal room.

In 1996, guitarist Pablo Benegas, bassist Alvaro Fuentes, keyboardist Xabi San Martin and drummer Haritz Garde met at a local university and formed La Oreja de Van Gogh (LOVG). The name of the band is referenced to painter Vincent van Gogh who is known for cutting off his own ear lobe. They covered songs from U2, Pearl Jam and Nirvana.

Subsequently, vocalist Amaia Montero joined the band. They rose to fame after they won a local pop-rock festival, earning them the opportunity to record songs. San Martin, Benegas and Montero serve as the primary songwriters for the band.

The uncertain journey would become an exhilarating global success. They led the way to some of the most emblematic compositions of Spanish pop, a gallery of awards like no other artist in the country can dream of and the title of a well-known nationwide band with major sales of the twenty-first century.

LOGV has won numerous awards since their first released album. They’ve received a Latin Grammy for Best Pop Album in 2016, MTV International Award for Best Spanish Artist in 2001, MTV Latin Award for Best Group in 2004, two Ondas Awards in 1998 and 2003, an Amigo Award in 1999 and many more. These recognitions accredit LOVG as the capital artist in the Spanish and Latin American pop scene that endorse the countless number one spots on the music charts with more than 50 platinum and gold albums.

LOVG’s twenty year career fulfills their seven studio album, El Planeta Imaginario, in which fans can find a collection of songs inscribed in the history of pop sung in Spanish and recorded in the memory of the public of Spain and Latin America.

LOVG has toured half-way across the world in countries such as Spain, the United States, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Mexico, Puerto Rico, El Salvador, Peru, Panama, Ecuador, Colombia, Guatemala, Venezuela, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Panama and France.

Though they weren’t strangers to success, their third album in 2003, Lo Que Te Conté Mientras Te Hacías la Dormida, sold impressively in the Americas with over 100,000 copies sold in the United States alone.

Don’t miss La Oreja de Van Gogh at the LEA on Wednesday, May 3 2017 in our intimate setting, the Club Annex.

The South Texas Food Bank’s Empty Bowls has aimed to both create awareness about the realities of hunger and to celebrate the generosity of those individuals, businesses and organizations that have impacted and furthered the food bank’s mission of feeding the hungry in South Texas.

“We wanted to change things up a bit for Empty Bowls XI,” STFB Empty Bowls Co-Chair Kevin Romo said. “Since its inception, we have featured “classic oldies” bands, but this year we thought it would be a good idea to try something different – a band that appeals to both young and old.”

He also noted that this year’s Empty Bowls will feature other fun surprises that event attendees will surely enjoy.

“Empty Bowls is a celebration of both generosity and of the dynamic spirit of our South Texas communities, this is why we believe that Los Lonely Boys are a perfect fit for this event,” concluded Romo.

“Empty Bowls is our largest fundraiser event of the year. Our non-profit organization depends highly on fundraising events to continue providing for our community. Thanks to the support that we received from all our donors and supporters, we were able to distribute over 10 million pounds of food throughout our eight county service area last fiscal year (2015-2016), “said South Texas Food Bank Board President Erasmo Villarreal.

“We are grateful to everyone who has helped us to make this event a success: from our supporters who buy tables, the fans that buy concert tickets, the businesses and wonderful artists that donate their talent to our auction; and volunteers,” Leslie Benavides, STFB Empty Bowls Co-Chair added.

About Los Lonely Boys
Hailing from San Angelo, Texas,  the Grammy Award winning band Los Lonely Boys are in the forefront of a music style they like to call "Texican Rock n' Roll" - a sound that combines elements of different music genres such as Texas blues, country, Tejano, and Latino and American rock ‘n’ roll.

The Texas trio consists of three brothers: Henry (guitar, vocals), Jojo (bass, vocals), and Ringo (drums, vocals) Garza. They are proud to note that they follow in the music tradition of their father, Ringo Garza, Sr., who formed the conjunto band, Los Falcones with his brothers. Los Falcones played conjunto music throughout south Texas during the 1970s and 1980s.

Their debut single, "Heaven", was a massive success; it reached #1 on the Billboard AC charts and propelled sales of the album. In 2005, the single was nominated for, and won, the Grammy Award for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal.
